Hey! It looks likes I'm in today!
As I mentioned in a previous post, I often have trouble posting here. Sometimes I can type a title but no body content. Today I'm in and it's working! I think I'll take this opportunity to change the look of this blog.
Meanwhile, check out this cool find!
and this sweet video!
I don't post here often, because often times my Mac won't input the data. I was wondering if its just mine, or do other people have this problem? I'm on my sister's PC right now, but its not frequently available to me. Its really a shame because I like Vox a lot.
Who was the last person you offended?
Submitted by May.
I'm not sure because nobody has said anything, but I sometimes put my foot in my mouth so I'm sure I've offended someone.
It's almost crunch time! If you want to save a little time without sacrificing flavor, I recommend Bob Evans Original Homestyle Mashed Potatoes from the refridgerated section in your grocery store.
Everyone I talk to is getting those Brown n Serve Rolls. They're okay, but I'd put my time into homemade rolls and skimp on the potatoes, personally.
Also, if you want to save on carbs altogether. Just bake the sweet potatoes, skip the rolls, and gravy, and check out SparkPeople for some 100 calorie recipes!
In honor of Blog Action Day, I am posting a new handmade stone-age type necklace in my Etsy shop. I call it, "Flowers in the Sidewalk", or 'The Flintstone Necklace'.
Also, I am trying to make a habit of using those cute little cloth bags that stores such as Trader Joe's and Giants are now suppling for purchase at the checkout counter. My biggest problem is remembering to return them to my car after I've unloaded the groceries so that I'll have them on hand for the next trip.
I am also finding many other good uses for them, such as carrying library books and small loads of laundry.
Other ways I'm always making efforts to help are in turning off and unplugging electrical items when not in use, taking shorter showers, and 'recycling' dish water to scrub my kitchen floor with after doing dishes.
So, those are my current actions towards preserving or improving our future. They should be relatively harmless, and maybe someone else will follow suit with something just as painless but very fruitful in the longrrun.
'Make Someone's Day' is an inspirational blog that reassures one that there are still many good people left in this world. Not only does he provide ideas of nice things we can do to help family, friends, loved ones, animals, strangers, etc., but he often demonstrates actions he takes to make life better for someone or something, even if just for a moment.
I had the wonderful opportunity to design a banner for WPCreations.etsy.com. It's the first 'freelance job' I've done in a long, long time. It was also a lot of work. I searched for a couple of hours to find suitable 'free' photos that I thougt would be suitable for her site. Finally, I gave up and decided to shoot my own photos. I am not the best at photography, which is why I purchased a good camera years ago. Even so, I went through some trial and error with lighting issues in trying to get my layout to work. When all was said and done, she was very pleased with it. I also am pleased with the way it turned out. It is so weird to see my work outside of 'my work'. Still, I get jazzed when I look at it. I keep going back to her shop page just to check it out.
I don't know if I'll advertise to do more designs in my Etsy store. It is just so much work for a small amount of money. I see a lot of other graphic artists on Etsy who offer banner designs. Some even say 'custom' banner designs but the majority seem to be 'prefab' from what I've seen. I find that a lot harder to do. I like to analyze the customer to get a feel for what they'd like. I like my work to reflect the message or image they want to convey. Then I put a lot of thought into ways I could do that. What materials do I need. I don't have a lot at home so I have to improvise and that doesn't always work. Then, there is the adjusting of photos, the layout, the font style, the tweaking of things, etc., etc., etc.. Most people don't realize how much is involved and how time-consuming it can be. They think graphic artists just sit around and 'make pretty pictures' all day. Its an undervalued job, but I love the work so I can put up with that.
Anyhow, here is the banner:
I really love the way this necklace I made turned out. I bought the beads on Etsy and I've listed the necklace in my store there as well. I thought if people saw the price of the beads they'd see that my asking price for the necklace was pretty reasonable, especially with the other beads I added, along with the time I put in in designing and creating it.
I can't wait to get started with the next project. Problem is, I've got too many lined up so I'm spinning wheels and not getting anywhere.
Recently Hershey's introduced the Reese's 'The King' peanut butter and banana creme filled Reese's cups in honor of Elvis Presley. I thought it was a bizaar idea, but after learning that grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches was a favorite of Elvis', I tried and like the candy bar quite a lot!
Yesterday I discovered the Reese's Whip candy bar. Similar to 3 Musketeer but the light fluffy filling had the Reese's peanut butter flavoring. Yum!
I don't see where its a little healthier for you at 230 cal. and 7grms fat, but I guess it could always be worse.
I've found it at Giant Food as well as CVS pharmacy store. read more
